Question:

Option 2 is adopted by us, as you know internal audit is very important in this case so the question is how many or what percentage is permissible for the 3rd party auditor to make a shadow audit for the option 2 organization internal auditors during the certification renewal audit?

Answer:

The shadow audits are only necessary for the qualification of the producer group’s internal inspectors (Appendix III.1. 2.3.1.ii). According to this requirement, the internal inspector must witness 2 CB inspections or carry out 2 shadow audits observed by the CB. Once the internal inspectors are qualified it is not necessary to carry out any additional shadow audits, neither during the surveillance inspections.
