Question:

We have one client with Five farms, that produces oranges. The farms are a few or many kilometers away form each one. The option is 1 (Individual farmer with 5 farms) One farm passed the Audit, the other 4 not. So we decided to issue a certificate for this farm, explaining in the annex that only one farm is certified, and mentioning only the production capacity of this unit. Tracebility (till export) ensures that only the fruit of this farm will be sold as EUREPGAP Is that okay, or all five farms has to comply with EUREPGAP to get the certificate? "

Answer:

One of the pre-conditions of EUREPGAP is that all production of the same crop on the same farm must be subjected to EUREPGAP. Point 10.6.2: (i) All areas of production and Produce Handling sites of the registered crops on the EUREPGAP registered Farms MUST comply with EUREPGAP. Therefore, if the grower wants to have one certificate under option 1, he must have all the area compliant before he can receive a certificate. To get around this the grower would either have to a) register each farm independently under an option 1, or b) register as an option 2 and the quality management system in place would therefore have to be audited etc."
